The Rolex Daytona is one of the most famous and sought-after watches in the world. It is named after the 24-hour race in Daytona Beach (Florida), which is one of the most challenging and difficult races in motorsport. In 1962, the Swiss manufacturer became the official timekeeper of the prestigious race at the Daytona International Speedway. As a sign of this direct connection, a Rolex Chronograph 6239 officially appeared for under the name Rolex Daytona the first time in 1963. Later equipped with screw down pushers, screw down crown and Oyster case, Rolex continued to develop the model. Since the year 2000, Rolex Daytona models have been equipped with the first chronograph caliber 4130 developed independently by Rolex, which is considered one of the best of its kind.
For the 50th anniversary of the Daytona, Rolex released a special edition of the Daytona. Made entirely of platinum and equipped for the first time with a state-of-the-art ceramic bezel in deep dark brown and an ice-blue dial reserved only for platinum models, it is probably the rarest and most precious incarnation of the modern Rolex Daytona and is considered one of the most sought-after watches in the world.
